This section shows and describes instruments used in operations in the clinics headed by the author and designed for placing mechanical tantalum suture in performing intestinal anastomosis in an end-to-end and end-to-side fashion (Fig. 50, 51 and 52). КЦ-28 is particularly useful in low anterior resection (see p. 232); the anastomosis can be established 7 cm from the anal orifice in females and .9-r-lO cm in males. This appliance is used by us in operations for rectal and sigmoid tumours lying 8 to 22 cm from the anus in females a 10 to 22 cm in males. It can also be successfully used abdominal resection of the sigmoid (end-to-side anas mosis), as well as for performing ileorectal anastomo end-to-end or end-to-side in patients with diffuse po posis. Contraindications to the use of К.Ц-28 inck marked non-specific ulcerative colitis and edematc thickening of the intestinal walls intended for anas mosis
